The Identity Project: Part 3 Grade 7

How do artists use metaphorical symbolism to express personal identity?
How do artists explore composition to create a unique style of work?
Grade 7 artists in block B4 explored rhythm, pattern, texture, contrasting and analogous color schemes, and radial balance to create their final works expressing personal identity.

"Maverick" by Gabriella
"Maverick is a symbol of independence and not worrying about what other people think. The panda head means that I am playful, active, and courageous. I chose ice cream because I have a lot of sides like ice cream has flavors. I have falcon wings because in life I fly high, I'm fierce, and I am courageous. Lastly, I chose cockroaches because I am fast and no one can catch me."

"This artwork shows my traits a human. We are objects and animals. There is the leopard body in the work because I don't chase my 'prey', but rather pounce on them and there are the spider arms because I can multitask." Abiram

"The Flying Gum Drop" by Sean
"The Flying Gumdrop is a sacred creature that is seen only once a year. It has a gumdrop because I can be sweet or sour, but sometimes I can be like tentacles and go with the flow. The Flying Gumdrop, like me, might be loud and annoying or soft and sweet and that's why there is a flute on it. It has clouds for eyes because it's all seeing, unique, and mysterious. It's also weird an this magical being explains me perfectly and it honors me or whoever sees it."

"Cat Spiders" by Mariya
"Cat Spiders shows different parts of who I am. I added a sea turtle shell because I am slow on land, but once I see food, I run just like a cat. When I see my friends I rush over to hug them just like a spider when it catches its prey in its web"

"Lucky Day" by David L.

Benyam

"Snakes and Sports" by Aman
"Snakes and Sports is a project based on my personality and hobbies. The american football shows I can run fast, but I slow down when I am tired. When you spiral a football, it spirals really fast at first, then slows down.  A snake slithers really fast and the snakes in this work show that I slither from class to class. Sometimes we have a short transition and have walk fast or run really fast to get to class."

"The David" by David C.
"I have a violin body because I am a classy person. There is the pigeon head because I feed off other people. I have anteater arms because I can prey on the weak. The sneakers represent my endurance."

"JOSH" by Josh
"I have frog legs because in many sports you have to jump to score or to get the ball. I have storm eyes because I am very loud, talkative, and laugh a lot."

"Ice Cream Cat" by Eldana
"Ice Cream Cat is an artwork that represents me. The cat's face shows that I love eating. An ice cream cone, like me, melts in the hot sun. Lastly there is the tomato because I am full of 'juicy' ideas."

"The Figure" by Sayat
