The Identity Project: Part 1 Grade 7

How do artists express identity using metaphorical symbolism?
Grade 7 students explored a variety of images that expressed their identities. Visual Arts Class, block A1 used pattern, rhythm, balance, positive and negative space, contrast, and analogous color schemes to create their final images.

"Pink Wonder" by Delina
“PINK WONDER” is a work that represents different aspects of myself. BY including a part of a lizard’s tail expressing that I have stamina and speed(you can’t hurt me even if you tried), although I am strong on the outside I am  sweet in the inside which shows another piece of my artwork which was a pineapple. I also demonstrated wind strokes showing that I am the windy because I will knock you off your feet with my amazingly good stories.

The title of my piece is “The Flip of A Switch.” It can be seen as many things, and signifies many things. One person saw it as a city with roads where people went to find spiders.

My intent was to show the symmetry of a spider and how I try my best to be straightforward, but end up branching out with different legs to try different things. The clouds and weather represented that even though I am always an optimist and am always acting proud and happy, within the flip of a switch it doesn’t take long for me to alter my mood and rain on your parade.

The horns on the corners represent a bull. I can be passive usually, but if you mess with me, you get the horns!
