Handmade Books: Grade 6

Grade 6 Bookmaking: This was the culminating project in our Grade 6 interdisciplinary unit with Language Arts, Social Studies, and Visual Arts. Students created handmade books to contain their short stories, myths, letters, poems, and their art works from our Hero's Journey Project (click here to view the mosaics)

Gesture drawings take Form

How do artists use traditional processes to invent a new and expressive style of art?  6th grade students studied movement, form, color, value, and positive and negative space to transform gesture drawings into 3D wire and plaster sculptures.

Expressive Portraits: Grade 6

How do artists use color and color scheme to emphasize emotions? Grade 6 students studied complementary, analogous, and monochromatic color schemes to emphasize contrasting emotions and expressions in portraits. The final works are composite two-view portraits.
