Mónica Martinez-Diaz: The New House is Empty: Post American Dream
"Her work is about her hometown of Juarez Mexico, and all the sentiments and entanglements that come with it. Her images function as a visual and biographical representation of the inherited complexities that encompass the territory of the Mexico/U.S. border. Juarez is a place of dreams and nightmares, beauty and terror, stability and insanity. This is where she comes from and everything she makes is an attempt to return." From her artist statement.
This work is about three generations of her family and include family artifacts and photographs.
Work on exhibit at Blue Star Contemporary Art San Antonio
