Expressive Portraits: Grade 6

How do artists use color and color scheme to emphasize emotions? Grade 6 students studied complementary, analogous, and monochromatic color schemes to emphasize contrasting emotions and expressions in portraits. The final works are composite two-view portraits.

6th Grade Mosaics: The Hero's Journey

6th Grade Mosaic: The Process

A Collaborative project with Language Arts and Social Studies. Using the mosaic process, students created and illustrated stories about the hero's journey. (Click Here to view the finished mosaics.)

Body Proportions and Movement

Creation of color, value, and color scheme

Once the colors were created, students used their mosaic plans to begin laying out their tiles starting with the background, then moving on to the details and borders.
